What Falls to the Floor… – Readings

What do you do when cards fall to the floor while you are shuffling the deck?  Do you tuck them back into your deck and go about your task?  Do you stop and consider which cards have slipped out of your hands before your very eyes?  I was taught that what “falls to the floor comes to your door.”  I think of it as an assertion of the message, maybe not the entire message but a definite and important part of the reading.

Perhaps the fallen cards can lend some depth on a daily three or add the dimension of mood or time to an event or happenstance.  Some readers even consider if the cards have fallen far or near, or face up or face down.  I have learned to set the cards aside and weave them in as the reading calls; they will often add a detail that was a surprise to both you and the Querent.

Another Trip — Wee Daily Three

Today’s wee daily three are warning me about upcoming troubles on a trip my family and I are taking in a few days… We had better start out early, and prepared!

Cards:

Rule 1 – Red is good and Black is bad:

B, R, R – A problem will be solved, things steadily improve.

Rule 2 – Suits:

S, D, D – A financial problem is overcome, circumstances improve.

Rule 3 – Numerology:

7, 6, Q – Troubles (7), Paths (6), Women and/or Truths (Q)

Rule 4 – Card Definitions:

7 of Spades – Double trouble; Tears; Mystery or a secret, something hidden; An investigation

6 of Diamonds – Distance, in general, someone or something at a distance; A car; Investments; Steps towards a financial goal

Q of Diamonds – A fair woman or a woman of wealth; The truth of a financial matter

Outcome:

Troubles (7S) early on with a car (6D) are resolved and we are able to proceed with our trip (combination of 6D and Court Card).

The cards are pointing to troubles early on; well we are renting a larger vehicle for our drive, so maybe there will be a problem with a credit card or something… Either way, the issue is solved so we can get on the road!

No Time — Wee Daily Three

Now is no time for rest and relaxation… This is true in so many ways!

Cards:

Rule 1 – Red is good and Black is bad:

R, B, B – A fair beginning steadily worsens and turns foul.

Rule 2 – Suits:

D, C, S – Financial works without gain.

Rule 3 – Numerology:

9, 10, Q – Changes (9), Ends (10), Women and/or Truths (Q)

Rule 4 – Card Descriptions:

9 of Diamonds – Change in financial status, usually for the better; Creature comforts; Finery; A change in plans, generally; On rare occasion, fame

10 of Clubs – A great deal of work to do; Work piling up; The completion of a practical project – work or hobby; Achievement, in general; Journey by air

Q of Spades – A woman of dark coloring or a woman of great authority; A widow; An unpleasant truth or a lie

Outcome:

A change in financial status (9D) doesn’t mean that it is time to sit-back, there is still the uncomfortable fact to face (QS) that lots of work is still ahead (10C).

Cross My Palm with Silver — Readings

Do you charge something in exchange for readings?

I do not read professionally for strangers, neither did any of the women in my family.  We did however, still “charge” something for readings.  Even today when I read for a friend I expect that a small token, as little as a quarter piece, be placed on the deck before I begin.  The Seeker holds the money between the thumb and index finger of their right hand (no matter which is dominate) and then crosses the cards.

If something is given that can’t be held in the hand for the crossing, say a cup of coffee or a crocheted blanket (yep, some of the items I’ve received), the Seeker still crosses the cards.  This exchange is not to “make money” from the reading, it is to balance out the exchange of energy — the Querent gives something in exchange for the reading.  This is another one of those traditions that I can’t explain, I only know that it is the way that I was taught when I was young.

*Update 7/22 – I should clarify that there are two different “crossings” going on here, one as a blessing for the reading and the other as an exchange for services.

What are your thoughts on charging for readings?  Do you “charge” friends and family?  I’d love to hear about your experiences!

Getting to Work — Wee Daily Three

Today’s wee daily three is all about getting to work!

Cards:

Rule 1 – Red is good and Black is bad:

B, B, B – Beset by problems and hardships.

Rule 2 – Suits:

C, C, C – Lots of work to do, increased activity needed.

Rule 3 – Numerology:

7, A, Q – Troubles (7), Beginnings (A), Women and/or Truths (Q)

Rule 4 – Card Definitions:

7 of Clubs – Troubles at work or some practical problem; The power of chance, or happenstance, in general

A of Clubs – A new task, goal, or opportunity

Q of Clubs – A woman of darker coloring or a business woman; The truth of a business matter

Outcome:

Be on the lookout and prepare for practical issues or problems (7C) surrounding a new business opportunity (combination of AC and QC).

When I see all the same suits in a spread, as I do today, it is a very loud message to listen to what the cards are saying.  All clubs in a single draw (work, callings, and plans) means that the planning stage is complete… and action / involvement is now required to push through on your goals!

Second Chance — Wee Daily Three

Today’s draw speaks of second chances and actually responds to something I have been praying about, who doesn’t love that?

Cards:

Rule 1 – Red is good and Black is bad:

B, R, R – A problem will be solved, things will steadily improve.

Rule 2 – Suits:

C, D, H – Easily working in the right direction for financial success.

Rule 3 – Numerology:

2, J, 3 – Exchanges (2), Youths and/or Messages (J), Growth (3)

Rule 4 – Card Definitions:

2 of Clubs – A helping hand; Business partnership; A doubling of something or repeated cycle

J of Diamonds – A fair or privileged youth; A message concerning money

3 of Hearts – Fertility; A child, or children in general; Decoration or adding beauty; An emotional bond growing; A love triangle

Outcome:

A second chance (2C) with a young child (combination of any suit Jack and 3H).

Family Harmony — Wee Daily Three

We finally got our son a new toddler bed and out of his crib, and he has been much happier.  Maybe more then even we realized…

Cards:

Rule 1 – Red is good and Black is bad:

R, R, R – All is fair and fine!

Rule 2 – Suits:

D, H, H – Rewards; enjoying and sharing the fruits of one’s success.

Rule 3 – Numerology:

5, 2, 7 – The Body (5), Exchanges (2), Troubles (7)

Rule 4 – Card Definitions:

5 of Diamonds – Eating; Clothes; Shopping; Jewelry; Appliances; Furniture

2 of Hearts – Love, relationship, or marriage; Harmony; The arts; Dancing

7 of Hearts – A troubled heart or emotional problem; Unsettled emotions; Dissipation of trouble (when falling at the end of a trio); Religion in general

Outcome:

Shopping (5D) for some much needed furniture (5D) restores (7H) harmony (2H) to the family.

Health & Wealth — Wee Daily Three

Looks like today’s draw is all about my toddler… he’s going to have a great day!

Cards:

Rule 1 – Red is good and Black is bad:

R, R, R – All is fair and fine!

Rule 2 – Suits:

H, D, D – Enjoying the fruits of one’s labor; comfort and security.

Rule 3 – Numerology:

5, 10, J – The Body (5), Ends (10), Youths and/or Messages (J)

Rule 4 – Card Definitions:

5 of Hearts – Good health; The hand of friendship or a friend; Enjoyment; Sexual relations; Entertainment in general

10 of Diamonds – Financial independence; Enough money to get things done; A large sum of money; Sealing the deal; Success, in general

J of Diamonds – A fair or privileged youth; A message concerning money

Outcome:

Health, wealth and happiness (combination of 5H and 10D) for my “young man” (JD) today.

Go with your intuition on whether to decide if the Jack in your readings are messages or youths.  In the past, my son has also come up as the 3 of Hearts – meaning Child or Children, in general.

it was always in me.”

Tasks Piling Up — Wee Daily Three

Today’s wee daily three is reminding me to “back away from the cards” and get back to work!

Cards:

Rule 1 – Red if good and Black is bad:

R, B, B – A fair beginning steadily worsens and turns foul.

Rule 2 – Suits:

H, S, C – An emotional problem that you will work yourself out of, but slowly.

Rule 3 – Numerology:

Q, 6, 10 – Women and/or Truths (Q), Paths (6), Ends (10)

Rule 4 – Card Definitions:

Q of Hearts – A woman of medium coloring or an emotional or artistic woman; The truth of an emotional matter, or in general, the truth

6 of Spades – Walking away or abandoning something; Cleaning up your life; Getting rid of things; Wrong choice; On the wrong path

10 of Clubs – A great deal of work to do; Work piling up; The completion of a practical project; Achievement, in general; Journey by air

Outcome:

I (QH) have a lot of cleaning up (6S) and tasks to attend (10C) to today.  I returned late last night from a short trip with my family out of state, so yes, there is laundry, grocery shopping, etc… all those little things to take care of today!

I don’t know about you, but after awhile you will start to see a language develop between you and your cards.  Some days they speak to me more clearly than others.  An example of this is when the 10 of Clubs popped out of the deck whilst I was shuffling… I always see this as a sign of “listen up” …you need to pay attention to this!  Also, I pulled the Queen of Hearts which usually indicates “me” in the reading.  So I am definitely getting the message about putting up the cards and getting back to the tasks at hand today.

The Lovers Spread — Spreads

I am not sure where this spread originates from, I believe it is an oldie as I learned it from my Mom a lifetime ago… I still go back to it because it is really good with reading in three card pulls, as I do for the “wee daily three”, and works much the same way.

Shuffle and cut the cards as you normally would.  Have the Querent (or you yourself) select 10 cards and lay them out in three rows across in this order:

1   2   3

       4   5   6   10

7   8   9

The cards are then read down in this order:

Cards 1, 4, and 7 represent the Querent.

Cards 3, 6, and 9 represent the other person in the relationship.

Cards 2, 5 , and 8 represent the relationship.

Finally, card 10 is the “gypsy advice” card.  Really, that’s how I wrote it down… 🙂
